September 9, 2016ROCK HILL, S.C. – (Aug. 15, 2016) – The National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) announced that Comporium’s Karl Skroban has been elected to its board of directors. Skroban is the vice president of media content for Comporium’s cable television services in the Carolinas.
The NCTC added Skroban to its 14-member board during its recent annual meeting held during The Independent Show, an industry trade conference, in Orlando. The organization, which represents more than 850 cable companies throughout the U.S., provides the companies access to programming networks and industry leading technology. NCTC members pay companies like AMC Networks, Disney-ESPN, Viacom, Discovery, Turner Networks, and others, programming fees which account for most of what is paid for cable TV service.
“The industry programming model is broken, so our board members will work hard to fight for fair pricing for our consumers,” said Skroban. “We strive to ensure that the fees demanded by all of the cable TV networks get under control, and that we can sell our customers only the channels they want.”
Skroban, who graduated from Winthrop University with a BA in mass communication/journalism, oversees video strategy and orchestrates programming content agreements for Comporium, which is the nation’s 26th largest cable TV operator.
In addition to Skroban, who has worked at Comporium since 1997, the NCTC also elected David Isenberg, president and chief revenue officer of Atlantic Broadband, based in Quincy, Mass. Each member of the board of directors at NCTC serves for three years.
“Our board has been very supportive of our expansion into services focused in the OTT (over-the-top) and IP (internet protocol) video area. The latest NCTC board additions add to the mix of skills needed to help guide our priorities and strategy,” noted NCTC’s Rich Fickle, president and CEO.
