Donate a Coat to Community’s ‘Winter Warm-Up’ Comporium, CN2, Long’s Cleaners, and United Way Coat Collection Begins
January 5, 2015‘Winter Warm-Up’ Continues to seek Coat Donations in Rock Hill
January 16, 2015BREVARD, N.C. – ( January 16, 2015 ) – The community coat drive, known as “Winter Warm-Up,” is going well, but the needs are great, according to Comporium, which is using its office on Main St. as a collection site.
“We are extremely pleased with the community’s response to this coat drive,” said Comporium General Manager Frank Porter. “We have received 244 coats at the mid-point of our campaign. However, with two weeks to go, the daily low temperatures are projected to be in the 20’s and 30’s, and we could use all that we can get.”
Comporium has been working with United Way and Sharing House to help distribute the coats quickly after they are dropped off due to the cold weather. The company also purchased more than two dozen new coats to supplement the collections.
“Overall, we have more than 200 coats that are being distributed locally to people in need,” said Porter. “We weren’t sure how many we’d get, but it’s obvious that we have a lot of caring citizens in our area, and it’s a humbling and comforting feeling to see how generous people are.”
Porter said that anyone wishing to contribute could drop off coats through Jan. 30 at Comporium’s office on Main St.
