ROCK HILL, S.C. – ( January 05, 2015 ) – Comporium is partnering with local TV news station CN2, Long’s Cleaners and United Way to hold a coat drive for new and gently used coats of all sizes during the month of January.

“We are heading into the coldest period of the year and some of the United Way agencies said they could use some help to provide warm clothing for people in need,” said Comporium’s Matthew Dosch, executive vice president of customer operations and external affairs. “The goal is to collect at least 100 coats, and Comporium will match by donating brand new coats up to that amount.”

Comporium said that anyone wishing to contribute could drop off coats at any of Comporium’s nine retail locations in York and Lancaster Counties; as well as, at CN2’s building in downtown Rock Hill. Long’s Cleaners has agreed to clean pre-owned coats before they are turned over to United Way for distribution through their agencies and shelters.

United Way of York County said it will work with the following agencies: The ROC (Renew Our Community), the Men’s Warming Center; P.A.T.H. in York; The Haven Men’s Shelter; Fort Mill Care Center; and Pilgrim’s Inn.

United Way of Lancaster County will work with the local chapter of the America Red Cross to distribute donated coats in that area.

“We will be communicating with CN2 and the other local news media along with our partners to get the word out,” added Dosch. “Warm clothing, shelter and food are necessities in life that no one should be without, especially children. We can’t tolerate that anyone in our area should have to suffer through the winter months without these essentials and our community can ensure that isn’t going to happen.”
