February 18, 2015LANCASTER, S.C. – ( February 05, 2015 ) – Comporium announced today that it is introducing new wireless phone cases customized with local artists’ work at its University Place retail store near the USC Lancaster (USCL) campus.
The cases are provided by 21-year-old Vincent Felix, a Lancaster County resident, who recently transferred to USC’s Moore School of Business from USCL. He is crafting his cases with artwork from two current USCL students and from a student now at Clemson. Comporium will sell the cases, which fit the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5; as well as the iPhone 5s, 5c, 6 and 6 Plus, for $29.95 each.
“The cases are very well done,” said Comporium’s Tim Hallman, Lancaster’s Residential Services Manager. “I was teaching a one-day Business Ethics segment at a USCL Business Law course last fall, and I and happened to notice Vincent’s phone case. I asked him where he got it, and he said, ‘I made it.’
“I got him in touch with one of our Marketing staff people, and she was blown away by the designs, so it went from there,” Hallman added. “We told Vincent that he was going to have to come up with the packaging and beef up his website, which he has done. He’s a talented young man.”
Felix, whose family resides in Indian Land, said he began making the cases about 18 months ago. One day on the USCL campus, he began showing them to friends.
“I sold five cases that first day, and I knew I had something,” he said. “I’m really grateful to Comporium for encouraging me and pushing me harder. In fact, I’m working on updating my website right now to be ready for this launch.”
Hallman said that Comporium will offer the Artisan Line that Felix makes and will see how sales go.
“If it goes well and he can gear up the supply, we will likely present his cases in some of our other retail stores,” add Hallman.
Felix, who is pursuing degrees in entrepreneurial management and in marketing, said he hopes he can “go national, even global one day. That would be my goal. I know it’s going to take a lot of long hours – it already has – but I’m passionate about growing my own business.”
