ROCK HILL, S.C. – May 27, 2020 – The next generation of video entertainment is making its way to Comporium’s subscribers in South Carolina and North Carolina. On May 1, the locally owned and operated communications company introduced Stream TV, a new video product that will eventually replace its traditional cable television service. The new platform, delivered over Comporium’s internet service without the need for a cable set-top box, provides customers with convenience, flexibility and control over how and where they watch their favorite shows, movies, news and sports.
Stream TV is an all-in-one app that allows viewers to access Comporium’s traditional video lineup on a variety of compatible devices. Stream TV may be accessed from:
- Streaming devices (including Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV and Android TV),
- Tablets and smartphones,
- Computers, and
- Select smart TVs.
More devices are coming in the near future. Packages are comparable to the company’s current cable offerings, with similar pricing and channel lineups. In some cases, customers will see a savings when they switch to Stream TV by avoiding costs associated with converter boxes.
With Stream TV, customers have the added opportunity to view content whenever they wish. The app’s restart and replay features mean never having to miss a show, while the cloud-based DVR provides stable storage for recorded content. When it’s time to watch something new, personalized recommendations will be provided for each user profile based on viewing history and preferences.
Stream TV is the latest in a series of video innovations that Comporium has brought to market in its service territories. “We are excited to bring this new service to our customers, said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Matthew Dosch. “Comporium’s Stream TV combines our traditional comprehensive channel lineup with a host of convenient features and availability across a variety of devices. Finally, we can back it up with our 24/7 local customer service.”
Stream TV is available to new customers now, and existing customers upon request. Comporium plans to migrate all of its video customers to the new platform over the next two years.
