July 26, 2019A Natural Leader for Comporium Brevard
BREVARD, N.C. – May 28, 2019 – Comporium bid a fond farewell to a valued employee and friend in March, when Frank Porter retired after 34 years of dedicated service to the company. There is no doubt that the contributions Frank made to Comporium and to the town of Brevard are numerous, leaving a void that would be a challenge to fill. Luckily, the ideal successor has been with the Brevard team for more than 36 years and was integral in the transition from Citizens Telephone Company to Comporium in 2009.
Comporium is thrilled to announce that Shelia Carland has been promoted to General Manager and City Executive for Brevard. Shelia joined Citizens Telephone in 1983 as a member of the customer service team. Upon Comporium’s acquisition of the company, she assumed the role of administrative assistant to Frank and the two have been an incomparable pair for ten years! In 2012, Shelia was promoted to Business Office Manager and has led her team with a focus on customer service and a diligence to community engagement.
In her new role, Shelia will report to Greg Austin, Senior Vice President of Customer Care and Brevard. In addition to managing the daily operations of Comporium Brevard, she is charged with providing leadership and vision to ensure the success of the organization. As City Executive, Shelia will represent the Enterprise in the Brevard market, engaging in local economic development, the Chamber of Commerce, and other vital business relationships. Her knowledge of telecommunications coupled with her passion for the community of Brevard, is the perfect combination for continued success.
“The Brevard community is a close-knit family that has been nurtured by Frank and his team for more than a decade,” stated Comporium’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Dosch. “Having Shelia continue that work in this new capacity is a natural fit and we are so excited to have her assume the responsibilities of General Manager and City Executive.”
Shelia resides in Mills River with her Husband, Chuck. She has three sons, Colby, Cassidy and Christian, and is grandmother to two grandchildren. Shelia has served on the board of directors for VISION Transylvania, The Haven, and the United Way. She is actively involved in the Transylvania County Farmers Market.
