December 17, 2014ROCK HILL, S.C. – ( November 21, 2014 ) – Gone are the days of posting paper notices on bulletin boards, changing letters on a marquee, or setting up poster boards on easels around a business. According to Comporium, sophisticated software and high-speed Internet now provides businesses with digital signage options that incorporate audio-video technology on high resolution screens.
“Comporium is now expanding our communications portfolio to include Hypersign, which helps businesses provide their customers and/or employees with helpful, up-to-the-minute information,” said Matthew Dosch, executive vice president of customer operations and external affairs. “You could think of it as an electronic bulletin board, but it is so much more than that.”
Developed in South Carolina, Hypersign can be used to advertise products, provide information to help with purchasing decisions, and also deliver real-time updates of news, weather or anything relevant to the target audience.
Comporium said the digital signage is especially beneficial to retail, hospitality, transportation, healthcare and education environments. Hypersign’s software can be used with Powerpoint, RSS feeds, websites and can be interactive. Other than the monitor and software, the system uses a small computer, referred to as a “media player,” to drop in the desired information and graphics.
“The content can be customized to fit any industry’s needs, and it’s really simple to use with the drag-and-drop content manager,” Dosch added. “We have Hypersign in five Fort Mill schools and the district office right now, and they can use the signage to display current activities, the lunch menu, community information, the weather conditions, anything that’s useful to the students and faculty to know.”
In case of emergencies, the signage can be instantly turned into an alert system. For example, if there is a fire alarm, the monitors could display evacuation instructions while 9-1-1 is being notified.
Dosch said that Hypersign is installed in all of the Greenville Hospital System locations and in the Bon Secours Hospital System’s new cancer treatment center in Greenville. He added that Hypersign is also deployed in the recently constructed Fountain Park Place professional building’s lobby in downtown Rock Hill to serve as a directory; as well as, to provide general information and real-time content.
