ROCK HILL, S.C. – ( May 29, 2014 ) – The Southeast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), has nominated CN2 for “Television News Programming Excellence” in the 2014 Southeast Regional EMMY® Awards.

This is the second time CN2 has been nominated for an EMMY; the last nomination was in 2012. This year, NATAS received more than 1,000 entries, marking an all-time record.

Listed among the CN2 entrants are the following: Laurabree Monday, Lucas McFadden, Alison Rauch, Chris Roberts, Trey Maggio and Mia Macy.

The nomination was for CN2’s newscast last May entitled “178th Engineer Battalion Homecoming.” Over 160 S.C. National Guard soldiers returned from Afghanistan, some for the first time in over a year. The unit, headquartered in Rock Hill, SC., conducted route clearance operations and deconstruction missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Regional Command-East in Afghanistan. CN2 News was present to help welcome the brave men and women home and capture this special moment.

The NATAS will recognize the best of the region’s 2013 television production on June 7 in Atlanta at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead. While based in Atlanta, the chapter serves the southeast region comprising Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Asheville, N.C. CN2 will be among six nominees in its category, which encompasses markets up to the top 75 largest markets.
