Copyright Infringement Notification: Frequently Asked Questions

Why have I received a notification?

You have received a notification from Comporium because a third party source has indicated that copyrighted material has been downloaded or distributed from your Internet connection.

What does this mean for me?

If this is your first notice, there is no immediate repercussion so long as you comply in notifying Comporium and taking the appropriate actions depending on whether you believe the allegations are true or false. Comporium reserves the right to deny Internet service to customers who receive repeat notifications without compliance, while unlawfully downloading copyrighted material may also potentially result in legal action from the copyright holder.

What do I need to do?

If the allegations are true, delete/uninstall the file or files in question from your devices and it is highly suggested that you do not continue to download or distribute copyrighted information. If you are unaware of any machines on your network that have the file/files in question and believe the allegations are false, it is suggested to verify that your wireless network is secure (if you have one) and that none of your devices have any sort of file sharing software installed that may be accessing copyrighted material without your knowledge.
