June 26, 2017Comporium Dials up the Speed for Area Internet Customers
ROCK HILL, S.C. – (June 26, 2017) Streaming video, gaming, and connecting to the world just got faster this week for 40,000 customers with Comporium internet service. Almost twice that number of customers will join the list in just a few months. Better yet, customers are getting the speed increases without any increase in their monthly rate and, in most cases, without needing to change their existing equipment.
Customers across Comporium’s service territory will experience speed increases this summer. About one third of the planned speed increases occurred this week. The speed increases occurring this year will impact Comporium customers with cable modem or fiber-to-the-premise internet service. Comporium anticipates all speed increase will be complete by late summer/early fall. There are no plans to increase the monthly rate for any broadband packages this year. In fact, Comporium recently lowered the rate for its 1Gbps service, Zipstream, from $99.99 per month to $89.94 per month.
Speed increases for customers in upgraded Cable Modem Areas:
• Standard HSI is moving from 60Mbps down/5Mbps up to 75Mbps down/5Mbps up
• Ultra HSI is moving from 150Mbps down/10Mbps up to 200Mbps down/10Mbps up
• Elite HSI is moving from 300Mbps down/20Mbps up to 400Mbps down/20Mbps up
Speed increases for customers in Fiber to the Premise Areas:
• Standard HSI is moving from 75Mbps down/30Mbps up to 90Mbps down/50Mbps up
• Ultra HSI is moving from 200Mbps down/60Mbps up to 300Mbps down/300Mbps up
• Elite HSI is moving from 500Mbps down/200Mbps up to 600Mbps down/600Mbps up
• Zipstream speeds remain at 1Gbps down/1Gbps up
“Making sure our customers have access to fast broadband speeds is a priority for Comporium,” stated Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Dosch. “We’re always exploring ways to improve our speeds and offer customers a better value than our competition. That’s also why Comporium was the first provider, and still one of the only, in the area to offer Gigabit service to our customers.”
Comporium is listed by PCMag.com as the 3rd fastest internet service provider in the Southeast and among the top 10 nationally for 2017. Even with that award, the company is working to convert more of its cable modem and DSL customers to fiber service to boost their speeds.
