Our customers can now watch TV shows, which are provided by networks that have decided to participate, from the customers’ preferred device, whether it’s a desktop computer, a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone,” said Comporium’s Glenn McFadden, executive vice president and COO.
“Unlike Hulu, Netflix or other streaming services, WatchTVEverywhere is absolutely free,” he added.
The list of networks currently includes popular channels, such as A&E, Cartoon Network, E!, FOX News, and NBC Olympics, among others.
The company plans to include more channels soon, including Comedy Central, FOX Sports and Showtime.
Existing digital video subscribers will receive instructions on how to register for the service.
Comporium customers can view any WatchTVEverywhere (WTVE) program as long as it is on a network that they subscribe to in their digital video package. WTVE works anywhere an Internet signal can be received. Comporium cautions customers to be aware of wireless carriers’ data charges.
Comporium notes that each TV network makes its own decision about what to offer on WTVE, and a TV network may not own all the rights to all of the programs they transmit; therefore, a customer may be able to see a movie on a TV set but not on WTVE.
