1. Download the Ad-aware software (be sure to save it in a location you can remember)
2. Navigate to the directory where you saved the file and run it
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the program (you will not need to change any of the installation settings)
4. After the program has installed, there should be an Ad-aware icon on your desktop-double click the icon (if not, you can go to START | Programs | Lava soft Ad-aware and select the Ad-aware icon)
   
    
   
5. Once the program has opened, click on the "Check for updates now" link in the bottom right corner of the window to update the reference file the program uses to find spyware.
6. There will be a button on the left side of the program that says "Scan now" – click on this button.
   
   
   
7. Select the "Next" button at the bottom of the program-the program will then begin to scan your computer for spyware
   
   
   
8. When the program has finished scanning, it will say "Scan Complete"
   
   
   
9. Click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page-this will take you to a list of the spyware components you have on your computer
   
   
   
10. Either select the spyware you would like to remove, or right click on the first item and select "Select all Objects"
    
    
    
11. Click the "Next" button on the bottom of the program-the program will then quarantine the spyware and your computer will be spyware-free
