Trace annoyance calls by dialing *57 after the call is received.

How it works:
When you receive a harassing call, you can dial a simple code to trace the source of that call. The number that called you will be recorded at the telephone company. If you decide to follow-up, you must contact the telephone company by the end of the next business day.*

How to use:
1. When you get a nuisance call, press and quickly release the switchhook. Listen for a special dial tone.
2. If you've already hung up, lift the handset and listen for a normal dial tone.
3. Press *57. (On a rotary telephone, dial 1157.)
4. Listen for the confirmation announcement that the call has been traced.
5. Hang up.
6. The number you traced will be recorded at the telephone company. If you decide to follow-up on the matter, contact the telephone company's business office as well as local law enforcement.
7. No information on the call will be provided directly to you. This information can only be requested by local law enforcement.

* Only those calls originating from an SS7 equipped switch will appear.
